Contemporary Bonsai Studies – Summer Class

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

Aloha All!  Kahi will be returning this Summer to teach his Contemporary Bonsai Studies Class at the Academy Art Center, see attached Schedule of Courses for class info.  The Spring Class had lots of fun!  Thank You to Josh, Neil, and Roxane!  What makes this bonsai class different from other traditional bonsai classes is that Art is incorporated into the sessions such as bonsai pot and tray making, as well as drawing and painting.  Give Bonsai a try using Kahi’s simple teaching methods, you will learn a lot in different areas that correspond with the craft.  Registration is taking place NOW!  First class is on Saturday May 28, from 9 am – 12 noon, tuition is $175 for 10 sessions.Academy Art Center Summer 2011 Schedule

Kahi Ching in Honolulu Weekly

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

Kahi is in this week’s Honolulu Weekly, Feb. 23 – March 1, 2011, with an article by wonderful writer, Karen Iwamoto.  It reveals Kahi’s concept on ‘Umeke La’au or Hawaiian Bonsai.  If you are no where near that infamous red newsstand, where the issues are free, you can see the article online at:  http://honoluluweekly.com/city-wise/2011/02/hawaiian-bonsai/

(In my opinion, the paper spread looks better, and has more photos! -Diana)

Contemporary Bonsai Studies Course by Kahi Ching

Sunday, December 26th, 2010

Kahi will be teaching at the Academy Art Center this Spring 2011.  He will be incorporating the Art of Bonsai and 2-Dimensional Art in this class.  This will be a new approach from a fine artist’s point of view, and his own steps in documenting, studying, and creating bonsai using “artist” techniques.  See link to view the catalog, to learn more about the course, and how to register.  We are very excited about this course, he has taught drawing and painting before, but this course will be combing his art knowledge with his love of Bonsai.
